Hello Dearest Reader,
These past three months have been a whirlwind of caffeine-fueled all-night shifts and going to school during the day. Juggling a full college schedule in preparation for nursing school and working 0.8 FTE in the emergency room as an ED Tech demanded extraordinary determination, study sessions, and patience. However, I survived and thrived, completing the semester with stellar grades. The icing on the cake? I secured a spot in a highly competitive nursing program at my school, a feat that feels nothing short of fantastic when I reflect on where I was just a couple of years ago.
The adrenaline rush has been non-stop, navigating through a series of heartbreaking, inspiring, and downright crazy cases in the bustling environment of a level 1 trauma center emergency department. From administering CPR to cleaning gunshot wounds and splinting broken limbs, I’ve found myself doing more than I ever dreamed possible. These experiences have caused my jaw to drop on more than one occasion, reminding me that the journey from where I started to where I am now is nothing short of extraordinary, and I know there is so much more to do and accomplish.
I can’t believe it took me so long to follow my dreams. You hear idioms like, “It’s never too late to start” or Carpe Diem, but it doesn’t really click until you risk yourself and learn how far you can push yourself to new horizons.
If you take anything from my experience, dear reader, stepping outside your comfort zone is the key. You can never appreciate your success or your accomplishments without sacrificing. Life fortunes the courageous.
